About the competition

The Pelican International Music Competition is open to young musicians of any nationality aged 6 to 20 in piano, strings, flute, and small ensembles. Launched by the Opus Music Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting musical growth in young artists, PIMC is a fully online music competition in various categories and age groups.

The competition gives two paths for applicants: Qualified categories are for performing repertoire that is considered appropriate for their age and level, and Open categories are for those performing at an advanced level on substantial repertoire. While qualified categories are in a single round, open category winners may compete in the second round for the Grand Prize Showcase Award, judged by distinguished international musicians. Please see Rules & Categories for more detailed information.

A numerical scoring system judges applicants. The comment sheet is available to applicants after 10/5/2024.

The performance of the Open categories' first prize winners will be featured via YouTube link upon the conclusion of the competition. The release date will be announced later.

Video submission via YouTube is required at the time of application submission. Please see the guidelines for setting requirements. The application period is 9/1/24 through 9/15/24, 11:59 P.M. (US-Pacific Time).
